Little Farms Bird Sanctuary at Simone Little Art Gallery & Studio offers a unique birding experience. The six-acre private site lies in southern Acadia parish near the rice-farming community of Morse. The site encompasses woodlands, a bayou and pond, an orchard, a rice farm, and coastal prairie habitat.

The big birding draw here falls within the wet rice/crawfish production areas surrounding it. Summer birds include most of Louisiana's wading bird species, and other water birds including Purple Gallinule, King Rail, and Wood Stork. During migration and winter months, the plot thickens, adding dozens of species of waterfowl, shorebirds, gulls and terns, raptors, sparrows, blackbirds, and more.

Birders can access two short walking trails, one around a fishing pond and the other a path to the bottomland hardwood forest at Bayou Queue de Tortue ("Turtle-tail Bayou).

The farm at Simone Little Art Gallery and Studio has been family-run for more than 100 years. An art studio and gallery are located here. Simone frequently hosts open studios, demonstrations, and instructional art classes. For an additional fee, bird-inspired art sessions are available.

Please call in advance to ensure access, as the sanctuary is on private land. The site includes paved/gravel parking for guests and other amenities, although not handicapped-accessible. The gallery is open Monday-Friday from 11 am – 6pm.
